the r.a.m. process
How we design, build, and optimize mechanical systems that move products from idea to operation.

DISCOVER & DEFINE
Every great engineering project starts with understanding the problem—and defining exactly what success looks like. We work closely with you to develop a comprehensive project scope that outlines the goals, requirements, functionality, deliverables, budget, timeline, and technical challenges of the project. We identify key constraints, potential risks, manufacturing considerations, and the resources needed to move from concept to reality. Whether you have a rough idea, a napkin sketch, or a fully developed concept, we turn your vision into a clear, actionable engineering plan that establishes the roadmap for the project and keeps everyone moving toward the same goal.
DESIGN & ENGINEER
our engineers bring the concept to life through detailed mechanical design, 3D CAD modeling, and advanced engineering solutions. We specialize in complex designs, intricate mechanisms, automation systems, and challenging engineering problems where standard solutions may not be enough. Throughout the design process, we apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure every component can be produced efficiently, reliably, and cost-effectively. We consider material selection, machining and fabrication processes, tolerances, assembly methods, serviceability, and production requirements early in the design—not after the fact. From a single custom component to a sophisticated multi-part system, we sweat the details, solve the hard problems, and engineer designs that are built to work in the real World

PROTOTYPE & TEST
A design is only as good as its performance in the real world. We turn designs into functional prototypes and production-ready parts using the right process for the job, including 3D printing, complex multi-axis machining, laser and water cutting, sheet and tube bending and injection molding. We select the manufacturing method based on the part, materials, tolerances, quantity, and intended application, allowing us to quickly move from digital models to physical components. Prototypes are assembled and tested to validate fit, function, motion, strength, and overall performance. Prototyping is often an iterative cycle—test, learn, tweak, and test again. We use each round to refine the design, solve unexpected challenges, and continuously improve the product until it performs the way it should.
REFINE & DELIVER
With the design proven, we prepare everything needed to move into production. During this stage, we work directly with manufacturing vendors and suppliers to review designs, confirm manufacturing requirements, and address any production challenges before parts are made. We incorporate final test results and vendor feedback, then complete design reviews, production drawings, specifications, and documentation before moving into the final production launch. Whether it’s a pilot run, investor demonstration, or full-scale manufacturing, we help guide the project from proven prototype to a production-ready solution.

BREAK THE MOLD
No two engineering projects are alike, and the process rarely follows a perfectly straight line. The steps above are a starting point—not a rulebook. Sometimes success means going back to the drawing board, trying something completely different, or figuring out a solution that hasn’t been tried before.
We’ll use whatever tools, techniques, and creative problem-solving it takes to get the job done.
